*Valvoline World Headquarters is located in Lexington, KY, but we invite remote candidates to apply as well. Ideally, we would like candidates located in Lexington or nearby markets (Cincinnati and Louisville) that can work in a hybrid capacity, but we are open to candidates working in 100% remote capacity, willing to travel to HQ's quarterly. 

 

How You’ll Make an Impact

The Senior Consultant/Stock Administrator - Executive Compensation is responsible for the administration of executive and management (salaried) compensation programs, including salary ranges, base salary changes, payroll coordination, annual cash and long-term equity (stock) incentive programs and deferred compensation. This role establishes strong working relationships with business/corporate management, Human Resource Business Partners, Finance (Accounting & FP&A) and Legal Departments, and external service providers to efficiently implement and administer Valvoline executive compensation programs. This role serves as a key contributor to the broader corporate compensation team and requires significant interaction with Valvoline executive management and Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors.. In the role, you would be responsible for:

  • Compensation Administration: Assisting with the administration of base salaries, short-term cash and long-term equity incentive programs. Providing guidance to managers and HRBPs on the application and interpretation of compensation policies and procedures including new hire offer/promotion support, and external market reviews. Communicating and interacting regularly with equity plan participants to respond to questions, for problem resolution and to build understanding of Valvoline compensation programs. Providing technical and analytical expertise in support of annual global compensation events including top performer, general market increases, talent management reviews, special equity grants and pay equity review processes.
  • Incentive & Equity Plans Administration. Partnering with the Finance/Accounting Department to ensure Valvoline Incentive Plan (VIP-executive and non-executive) and equity (VVV common stock) plan accruals are accurate, updated quarterly and reconciled in accordance with established procedures. Serving as primary point of contact with the outsourced external equity and deferred compensation plans administrator. Ensuring new plans and equity grants are properly set-up. Managing equity grant process for annual and interim new hire, promotion, and retention grants. Managing equity grant vesting events with stock plan administrator, U.S. and international payroll departments. Ensuring compliance with regulatory and tax requirements.
  • Compensation Committee of the Board Meetings. Assisting the Chief People Officer and VP, Total Rewards with development and preparation of materials for Compensation Committee of the Board (Committee) meetings, including the annual calendar and meeting agendas. Preparing materials (decks) for pre-meeting “dry runs” and final drafts with Valvoline executive team and Chair of the Committee. Coordinating the regular pre-Committee meeting cadence, including delivery of materials from the Comp Consultant to the Committee for internal review and discussion. Updating LE performance for VIP, in-flight 3-year LTIPs, and share utilization reports, with Finance.
  • CD&A. Supporting the Corporate Secretary (Legal Department) and Compensation Consultant to the Committee in the preparation of annual CD&A Proxy materials.
  • Deferred Compensation Plan. Planning and supporting annual Deferred Compensation Plan enrollment and administration. Coordinate’s participant communications and plan administrator activities. Provides day-to-day participant support.
  • Non-Employee Director Compensation Administration. Supporting the annual Non-Employee Director Deferred Compensation Plan enrollment and administration processes. Coordinating director communications and plan administrator activities. Providing day-to-day support. Processing annual BOD stock grants (Jan) and coordinates quarterly dividend payments and quarterly retainer fee payments or deferrals with Legal, Treasury and Finance.
  • Compensation Survey Administration. Assisting the broader Compensation Department survey submission and analysis processes. Responsible for annual short-term cash and long-term equity data inputs for KornFerry and WTW executive compensation surveys. Preparing annual incentive and LTIP benchmarking reports for senior management positions.

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in HR Management, business administration, accounting/finance or related fields
  • Minimum 5 years compensation department experience within a $1B+ publicly listed/traded company
  • Extensive (minimum 3 years) publicly traded stock/equity long term incentive plan administration experience
  • Experience in Corporate Human Resource Department
  • Experience interacting with Compensation Committees of the Board
  • Experience working with Compensation Consultant to Boards
  • Working knowledge and understanding of laws, regulations and best practices related to executive compensation and stock plan administration; SEC, SOX internal controls, FAS, GAAP, IRS, FLSA, pay equity
  • Advanced PC skills utilizing Excel, Word, and PowerPoint with a high level of proficiency and accuracy
  • Advanced HRIS proficiency, e.g., ADP, UKG, SAP HR, Success Factors
  • Strong analytical, organizational and project management skills. Detail oriented. Statistical acumen with large data set management experience to derive actionable and financial recommendations.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate complex and technical information to a variety of levels within the company
  • Works effectively under pressure in an often fast-paced environment driven by hard deadlines. Sense of urgency and accountability
  • Able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation as required
