How You’ll Make an Impact

The Manager of Security Architecture is responsible for providing strategic leadership and technical guidance for the design and development of strategies and solutions that mitigate risks to data, systems, and people while supporting business operational requirements. This role will be responsible for leading the technical requirements gathering sessions and documentation activities, defining the system architecture landscape, identifying gaps between current and desired end-states, and delivering a comprehensive, high-performance technical solution that will enable achievement of the desired business outcomes. This role will provide technical governance to cross-functional teams to ensure best practices are followed as part of the successful creation and delivery of information technology solutions. This role will also work closely with each business unit to prioritize and align requests and enhancements to information security technologies and processes in all platforms. In the role, you would be responsible for:

  • Conducting technical requirement discovery sessions with a variety of roles to perform gap analysis of requirements, develop overall solution design based off recommendations and knowledge and lead the technical solution architecture. Also includes analyzing complex business processes and identifying efficiency opportunities and or solutions to resolve process gaps or related business challenges.  Participating in business process due diligence, creation and documentation of end-user requirements of new and/or existing customer application implementation projects.  Overseeing and approving creation and maintenance of system design documentation.
  • Performing and supporting requested changes to existing system configurations and by coordinating and negotiating solutions for complex, cross-functional enterprise systems with multiple parties and their various interests and goals.  This may require interaction with other internal IT teams, managed service providers and other vendors to resolve and to provide proper communication for scheduled and unscheduled activities to ensure transparency to business stakeholders.
  • Designing and maintaining appropriate solutions to secure both internal and external-facing applications hosted in various IaaS, PaaS, or SaaS models. This includes ownership of security processes and procedures for application development by internal and contract developers. Implementing security systems by specifying intrusion detection methodologies and equipment; directing equipment and software installation and calibration; preparing preventive and reactive measures; creating, transmitting, and maintaining keys; providing technical support; completing documentation. Verifying security systems by developing and implementing test scripts. Preparing system security reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
  • Planning security systems by evaluating network and security technologies; developing requirements for local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), virtual private networks (VPNs), routers, firewalls, and related security and network devices; designing public key infrastructures (PKIs), including use of certification authorities (CAs) and digital signatures as well as hardware and software; adhering to industry standards.
  • Assisting the business in understanding the effort, risk and effect of making changes to all security platforms and communicate the downstream impacts of any changes to the business. Overseeing management of enterprise scale projects with global deployments from ideation phase to steady state environment, including test plans, user acceptance testing, deployment and support. 
  • Sharing best practices and be consultative to business partners throughout the duration of the project – act as a trusted partner.  Tactfully working with internal business to address out of scope request and use business product owner to re-align expectations of seek additional scope/budget.
  • Monitoring the information security architecture environments and work with IT teams to ensure all technologies and solutions are functioning as expected.
  • Staying current with upcoming changes to the information security platforms and other product offerings and maintain professional knowledge of and relationships within the information security ecosystem.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as determined by Valvoline from time to time in its sole discretion

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related technical degree

  • Minimum 10 years of IT experience required.

  • Minimum 3 years of Enterprise Security Architect experience
  • Minimum 5 years leadership experience on information security projects
  • Extensive experience in information security and/or IT risk management with a focus on security, performance and reliability required
  • Advanced understanding of security protocols, cryptography, authentication, authorization and security required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required - preferably with experience presenting solutions to IT or Security leadership as well as individual contributors
  • Ability to interact and/or influence a broad cross-section of personnel to explain/enforce security measure
  • Experience leading, implementing and executing medium/large IT security projects
  • Extensive knowledge of current/potential IT risks and experience implementing security solutions
  • Strong experience implementing or operating security log aggregation systems, SIEMs, or equivalents
  • Comprehensive understanding of enterprise IT application architecture and design across authentication/authorization, web, application, and database tiers
  • Experience implementing multi-factor authentication, single sign-on, identity management or related technologies
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. 

What Will Set You Apart

  • Minimum 2 years integration experience with other process areas preferred
  • Experience in multiple, full lifecycle security solution implementations preferred
  • Minimum 4 years of enterprise technology consulting experience preferred
  • CISSP or CISM
  • Strong experience designing and operating systems and environments within Amazon Web Services and managing associated infrastructure/service costs
  • Strong experience with security detection/prevention and access technologies for protecting cloud-based (SAAS/PAAS/IAAS) applications/environments
  • Extensive understanding of software development with functional experience with python scripting to automate workloads, integrate systems, or process data
