How You’ll Make an Impact

The Laboratory Technician will perform physical and chemical testing on a variety of lubricant products manufactured and/or received at the facility including base oils, additives, and finished lubricants. This role will review and approve both product and customer specifications as compared to Valvoline specifications. This role will be responsible for performing calibrations of lab equipment, maintaining lab supplies, and other responsibilities as needed. It will require involvement and assistance with other projects as assigned throughout the plant. In the role, you would be responsible for:

  • Performing all required quality control testing of received raw materials, manufactured products, and packaged products for distribution according to specification and quality control standards; validating site recipes for effective use in production
  • Collect and perform data entry for received raw materials, manufactured products and packaged products for distribution utilizing vLIMS
  • Maintain SAP processing for raw materials and manufactured products including inventory management, batch syncing and quality management functions
  • Support the facility's Quality System: Participate in internal audits, ensuring quality process controls and statistical data collection and evaluation. Support developed action plans and execution of appropriate corrective actions
  • Ensure the lab equipment is in proper working order and equipment within calibration on a daily basis. Troubleshoot equipment and make necessary adjustments as required. Conduct preventive maintenance and repairs as scheduled
  • Assist in answering phone calls and management of front gate entry
  • Document any non-conformances. Support the Incident Report System: document root causes of customer, internal, and supplier incidents
  • Maintain inventory of lab supplies and consumables to ensure effective operation of lab functions and equipment
  • Meet all training requirements and lab specific training to ensure compliance to Corporate standards. Participate in various assigned facility meetings, teams, and initiatives that support the operations and quality systems

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Engineering, Biology, or related scientific discipline
  • Ability and willingness to work in a team environment where equipment and ideas are shared
  • Integrity and commitment to facility and corporate goals
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, SAP) and the ability to compile and record data accurately
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent math skills
  • Ability to multi-task and willingness to work in a very fast paced environment
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
